Elle Macphersons sister Mimi Macpherson files for bankruptcy

MIMI Macpherson, younger sister of Elle, has filed for bankruptcy a day before a Federal Magistrates Court case was to proceed against her.

The 37-year-old whale-watching entrepreneur turned property developer yesterday filed documents declaring herself bankrupt.

Macpherson, also known as Miriam Francis Gow, faced bankruptcy proceedings after failing to pay a design bill of more than $100,000 on one of her company's Gold Coast developments.

She was facing action in the Federal Magistrates Court in Melbourne, the latest in a series of court actions over the matter.

Macpherson, whose older sister is regularly in rich lists worldwide, has failed to pay a $116,540 bill to Omiros One for architecture fees on a nine storey apartment block, Aspect on Burleigh, developed by her company PM Developments, in 2004.

She was successfully sued by Omiros One to pay that amount plus legal costs and today lawyers were to present a creditors petition and ask that Macpherson be declared bankrupt as she has not paid the bill.

While PM Developments has now been wound up, Omiros secured a personal guarantee from Macpherson on the architectural fees.
